United Auto Workers President Shawn Fain issued a warning to Democrats, stating that the party's midterm election successes do not ensure continued support from the working class in 2028 without tangible action on their economic issues. Fain emphasized that the working class will support whichever party champions their cause, regardless of political affiliation.

Speaking at the Michigan Democratic Party's election night watch party, Fain told Fox News Digital that the recent "blue wave" should serve as a "wake-up call" to politicians. He expressed frustration over corporate practices such as large stock buybacks while ordinary people struggle with rising costs. "We are tired of seeing, you know, $10 billion, $20 billion buyback deals for corporate leaders and for Wall Street while the people that create those profits can't afford to live," Fain stated.

Fain highlighted that Democratic victories in Michigan and nationally were propelled by a focus on core issues for working families, including healthcare, living wages, and retirement security. He noted that shifts in the working-class vote, particularly in Rust Belt states like Michigan, have been a significant factor in recent political realignments.

"Whatever party gets behind those things and supports those initiatives to take care of people, they'll be in power for long time," Fain said. He added that voters are increasingly aware of and fed up with external groups attempting to influence elections through financial means, suggesting that a genuine focus on the needs of working people is essential for political success.
