A 14-year-old boy has denied plotting a terrorist attack on two mosques in south-west London, Westminster Magistrates' Court heard. The youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, faces charges of preparing for acts of terrorism and racially aggravated criminal damage.
Prosecutors allege the boy's actions were motivated by extreme right-wing terrorism and that he planned to target places of worship in Sutton on August 28. His alleged plans, which included "bricking" and slashing tires, were codenamed "Operation Terrorise Sutton."
The court was told the boy's manifesto was inspired by figures including Adolf Hitler, Brenton Tarrant—the perpetrator of the Christchurch mosque shootings—and Anders Breivik, the Norwegian extremist.
The prosecution further stated the teenager was arrested following a trial run of the alleged attack, during which a car belonging to a Black woman had its window smashed. The boy pleaded not guilty to all charges.
He was remanded in youth detention and is scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on August 21.
