Ernesto Chavana, host of the Mexican television show “Es Show,” issued an apology after kicking a production drone that struck model Isabella Rojas in the face during a live broadcast on Monday. The incident left Rojas with a bloodied mouth.
During the program, Chavana kicked the drone, which then collided with Rojas. In the immediate aftermath, Chavana appeared to deflect blame, telling staff, “see what you have done.” He later apologized on-air, suggesting his footwear might have been responsible for the mishap. “I kicked this thing they put in front of me… I don’t know, maybe it was my new shoes,” Chavana stated.
Crew members attended to Rojas backstage following the incident. The production team for Canal 6, the network that airs “Es Show,” has committed to covering Rojas’ medical expenses and any other damages incurred. Rojas, a regular on “Es Show,” began her career as a content creator before joining the program, which is based in Monterrey, Mexico.
“Es Show” is a late-night variety and comedy program featuring games, dancing, sketches, music, and celebrity guests.
Chavana reiterated his apology on Tuesday, emphasizing his accountability for the incident. "Here I am to face up to it," he said in a video shared by POSTA on X. "I am not hiding. I am aware of the mistake I made yesterday by kicking a drone during a situation that came up on the program. I offered apologies to Isabella on air and I took full responsibility for the event."
