Former President Donald Trump is planning a trip to Ireland next month, where he will visit the U.S. embassy and attend the Irish Open golf tournament at his Trump International Golf Links & Hotel in Doonbeg, County Clare. A White House official confirmed the visit, stating Trump will be in Ireland on September 12 and 13, coinciding with the final days of the European tour event.

During his visit, Trump is also scheduled to attend an event with embassy personnel and business officials in Dublin. While the full itinerary is not yet finalized, the highlight of his trip will be his time at the Doonbeg property.

The golf course, situated on Ireland's west coast, spans over 400 acres and was originally designed by golfer Greg Norman. Trump has previously described it as "one of the best, most beautiful golf courses anywhere in the world."

Trump previously visited his Irish golf club as president in June 2019. He has made subsequent private trips to the property with his sons, Eric and Donald Jr., since leaving office.

Northern Irish professional golfer Rory McIlroy, one of Trump's favored players, is expected to defend his title at the Irish Open. McIlroy, who is also the reigning Masters champion, has a history with the former president. Trump has publicly praised McIlroy, and they have played golf together in the past, most recently in February 2025.
