President Donald Trump expressed gratitude to Iran for releasing an American woman he claims was wrongly detained, characterizing the move as a "gesture of Goodwill." The woman has been released and is reportedly in good condition outside of Iran.
In a post on Truth Social on Wednesday, Trump stated that the American citizen had been "wrongfully detained in December of 2024 under the ‘presidency’ of Sleepy Joe Biden." He added, "The United States of America appreciates this gesture of Goodwill by Iran!"
This development follows President Trump's recent decision on Tuesday to reinstate a naval blockade of Iran, which bars ships from entering or leaving its ports. The blockade was reimposed days after Iran reportedly attacked a commercial vessel and declared the Strait of Hormuz closed.
