Bryson DeChambeau, a LIV Golf player, stated that Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan desired to have conversations with former President Donald Trump during the LIV Golf New York event at Trump National Bedminster. The meeting occurred as the LIV Golf tour faces significant financial uncertainty following the PIF's decision to end its backing after the current season.

Al-Rumayyan was seen attending the event, which concluded with Joaquin Niemann winning the tournament and Jon Rahm securing the league's individual championship. DeChambeau expressed his approval of Al-Rumayyan's continued presence, noting that the PIF has been beneficial for golf. "I think he's done wonders for us and the global game of golf," DeChambeau said. "I think there's a great place for the PIF and where they want to be moving forward."

Despite the PIF's withdrawal of funding, LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil has indicated that new, unnamed investors are being secured to ensure the tour's operation through 2027. However, significant financial questions remain, including the status of large player contracts and prize money.

DeChambeau also recounted a separate conversation with Donald Trump, which he described as focused on the golf course itself and the hospitality provided at Trump-owned venues. "I told him how tough his golf course is. I got my butt kicked this week, that's for sure," DeChambeau remarked.

Trump has publicly supported professional golf and specifically the LIV Tour. The nature of his discussions with Al-Rumayyan remains unclear, including whether they were related to negotiations for LIV Golf's future or other matters. The LIV Golf organization continues to navigate its financial transition and future operational structure.
