President Donald Trump is concluding his extensive midterm campaign efforts with a speech at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C. This event marks the end of a weeks-long blitz that saw the president travel to over 20 states in an effort to support Republican candidates ahead of Tuesday's elections.
Trump's final campaign push included approximately 30 in-person political appearances since August, with more than 27 rallies held in October. A senior adviser, Alex Bruesewitz, who accompanied the president on many of these trips, described the logistical complexities of organizing events for a sitting president, involving coordination between the White House, Republican operatives, and advance teams.
White House spokesperson Olivia Wales stated that Trump's message to voters focused on the benefits of Republican control in Congress, including safer streets, lower taxes, secure borders, and energy independence. The demanding schedule has also led to notable moments, such as a photograph of Bruesewitz sleeping on Air Force One at 4 a.m., which circulated among congressional spouses.
The campaign trail has also featured appearances by notable figures, including boxing legends Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield, and rapper Nicki Minaj. Bruesewitz recalled the excitement generated by Tyson's presence at a New York event and the enthusiastic reception for Trump at a rally in Port Huron, Michigan, where Minaj also appeared.
In the final days leading up to Election Day, Trump's schedule included last-minute in-person stops in Kansas and Iowa, in addition to tele-rallies designed to reach voters across numerous states. The campaign's closing event at the Lincoln Memorial and the subsequent tele-rallies represent the final appeal to voters before the midterms.
