A California man with alleged ties to the individual accused of orchestrating a drone attack on a White House UFC event threatened to attack Sacramento's power grid using fireworks on July 4, federal officials announced.
Trevon McDaniel, 19, of Elk Grove, was arrested on charges of making threats to damage or destroy property by fire or explosives. According to U.S. Attorney Eric Grant for the Eastern District of California, McDaniel posted a TikTok video discussing plans for an attack around the July 4 holiday.
The video depicted McDaniel, who used the TikTok handle @the_wild_wolfspider, wearing a black mask with red lenses. In the clip, he suggested using fireworks near generators to cause power outages for federal buildings in Sacramento.
"I'm just saying, for everyone in Sacramento, we know you love your fireworks. It’d be a shame if fireworks were going off near generators, so certain federal buildings were losing their power," McDaniel stated in the video, according to the criminal complaint.
Authorities became aware of McDaniel while investigating Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez, identified as the alleged ringleader of a plot to attack the UFC Freedom 250 event on June 14. The event was scheduled to take place on the White House South Lawn and was attended by numerous government officials and fight fans.
Investigators examining data from Alvarez's cellphone discovered TikTok messages exchanged between Alvarez and McDaniel's account, @the_wild_wolfspider, between April 17 and June 7, 2026. McDaniel was subsequently identified as the user of the account.
During a search of McDaniel's residence, officials found a costume matching those seen in his TikTok videos, his cellphone, two mini-batons, and a baton holster. Although McDaniel initially denied being the person in the mask, his wife reportedly informed authorities that her husband had been operating the account and had been using the persona of "wolfspider" for the past six months.
McDaniel was not reportedly part of the Signal chat group used by the alleged White House plot conspirators but was in direct communication with Alvarez. The broader alleged plot involved using explosive-laden drones and snipers to target President Trump and other high-ranking government officials at the UFC event. Alvarez is accused of planning, organizing, and directing this coordinated attack, which was ultimately thwarted by law enforcement.
If convicted of the charges against him, McDaniel faces a maximum prison sentence of 10 years. He made his initial court appearance on Monday.
