Thousands gathered in Tarragona, Spain, for the traditional Castells competition, an event where teams construct human towers.

Held every two years in an ancient bullfighting ring, the competition draws human tower groups from across Catalonia. Some teams successfully built towers of eight human stories during the weekend's events.

The Marrecs de Salt team emerged victorious in Saturday's competition, held at the Tarraco Arena. Teams, comprising up to 500 individuals, compete to build the tallest tower, which can reach heights of ten levels or over 40 feet.

This year marked the 30th staging of the competition, which was first held in 1932. While some teams experienced collapses during their attempts, others achieved success in the near-century-old Catalonian tradition.
