An 18-year-old was arrested Tuesday on the Sierra Vista Elementary School campus in Clovis, California, following an alleged attempted car theft that led to a foot chase and prompted lockdowns at several schools. Police released a mugshot of Isaac Paradise, who appeared to be missing teeth.

Officers responded to reports of an attempted car theft at an apartment complex near Sunnyside and Shaw avenues earlier that morning. Witnesses told police that the suspect fled on foot toward Clovis Avenue. A pursuit, spanning approximately one mile, ensued with assistance from a drone and a police helicopter.

Sierra Vista Elementary was placed on a brief lockdown due to police activity on and around its campus. Additionally, Clark Intermediate School implemented a shelter-in-place order, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help school was also placed on lockdown. School officials stated that these measures were taken to ensure student safety and were lifted once the suspect was apprehended and the area deemed secure.

During a search of Paradise's property, police reportedly found evidence related to another attempted vehicle theft in a neighboring complex. Paradise was booked into the Fresno County jail and faces multiple felony charges. All stolen property has since been returned to its owners.
