A 19-year-old man accused of shooting another individual near the West Indian Day Parade in Brooklyn on Monday had been released on bail for an attempted murder charge just one month prior. Prosecutors had urged a judge to deny bail in the earlier case.
Nayshawn Wilkinson was arrested for allegedly shooting a 24-year-old man in the buttocks near the parade route on Monday afternoon. He had been released on $5,000 bail or a $10,000 bond on August 4, after appearing before Brooklyn Criminal Court Judge Janice Robinson for allegedly firing a gun into a busy intersection. At that time, prosecutors requested that Wilkinson be held without bail.
Wilkinson is currently awaiting arraignment on charges including attempted murder related to the parade incident. The notes indicate he was allegedly involved in a previous shooting incident where he was charged with attempted murder, and that he posted bail for that charge.
