A high-speed pursuit involving a black Ford Mustang and the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) occurred early Thursday morning, concluding with a crash near a Sherman Oaks home. The incident began at approximately 1:07 a.m. near Saticoy Street and Sepulveda Boulevard.
Video footage captured the Mustang evading police cruisers along the winding roads of Mulholland Drive before the pursuit ended. The LAPD reported that spike strips were successfully deployed, disabling the vehicle. The Mustang then veered off the road, crashing into the bushes near a residence in the 3400 block of Woodcliff Road.
The car sustained significant damage, with its airbags deployed. One of the two occupants attempted to flee the scene but collapsed and required medical attention. The Los Angeles Fire Department transported one man, described as conscious and breathing but experiencing lower back pain. Another man, approximately 40 years old, also needed medical attention due to pain from the collision.
At the scene, one of the suspects, identified as the passenger, was heard bragging to officers about his past offenses, stating he had "just got out of the joint for felony evading." He also claimed that if he had been driving, the police would not have caught him.
The LAPD took both suspects into custody around 6:23 a.m. on charges of felony evading. Mulholland Drive, known for its scenic views of Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley, is a popular spot for observers. No spectators were reported to have been injured during the incident.
