Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr quipped about former President Donald Trump's promise of a $5,000 check to American adults during a press conference following the recent midterm elections. Democrats secured significant wins, including control of Congress, an outcome Kerr seemed to anticipate when he playfully expressed disappointment at not being asked about the results.

"What, no questions on the election? I’m surprised," Kerr said, according to the California Post's Evan Webeck. "I’m disappointed, because I was looking forward to that $5,000 check that we were all gonna get."

Kerr further elaborated on his mock anticipation, stating, "I already spent it, in fact. And I was so excited and sure about it that I spent it already. So now I’m gonna have to figure something out."

The reference was to a pledge made by Trump, who claimed he would issue $5,000 checks to every American adult if Republicans maintained control of the House and Senate. The election results, however, did not align with that outcome, rendering the promise unfulfilled. Kerr, known for his outspoken political views, appeared to be in good spirits, using the situation for a lighthearted jab.
