Dr. Annie Andrews, the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in South Carolina, has detailed a "Taxpayer Pledge" aimed at reforming congressional practices. Her proposals include banning members of Congress from trading stocks, ending their taxpayer-funded pensions, and stopping their pay during government shutdowns.

Andrews, a pediatrician, stated her campaign is for those who prioritize their bills over political games, regardless of their past voting preferences. She emphasized her commitment to listening to South Carolinians, drawing parallels to her experience in medicine where she made difficult decisions under pressure. She has traveled to all 46 counties in the state, meeting with farmers impacted by tariffs, veterans concerned about suicide rates and foreign conflicts, and residents lacking access to local hospitals.

Citing recent shifts in the race, Andrews noted that Fox News has moved the contest to a "toss-up" status. She highlighted endorsements from former Republican Governor David Beasley and over 100 South Carolina Republican leaders, suggesting a broad appeal beyond party lines. Andrews contrasted herself with her opponent, Darline Graham, whom she described as handpicked by "Washington insiders" and admitted to being "not that informed" on national security matters.

Andrews committed to serving no more than two terms, asserting that the Senate seat belongs to the constituents. Her pledge also includes opposing tax increases for families earning under $500,000, making the "No Tax on Tips" and "No Tax on Social Security" policies permanent, and eliminating special tax breaks for data centers. She argues that both Democrats and Republicans waste taxpayer money through unfocused spending and inefficient wars.
