Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer encountered boos from some attendees while participating in the New York City Pride March on Sunday. Viral video captured the moment Schumer, waving a pride flag and speaking into a bullhorn, was met with a chorus of jeers from the crowd.

Schumer, who has been a consistent presence at the parade since 1999, attempted to highlight his long record of supporting LGBTQ+ rights, stating, "I was the first senator to ever march in this parade, 1999. And I haven’t missed one yet!" However, these remarks were largely drowned out by the negative reaction from a section of the attendees. Some individuals in the crowd were seen giving him thumbs down and frowning.

Despite the audible dissent, a separate video from the event showed a portion of the crowd cheering for Schumer. During these moments, he spoke about his history of advocating for gay marriage, noting, "I was the first Senate leader to come out for gay marriage. And 15 years later, I was vindicated, and my daughter married a beautiful young lady."
