Sen. Chris Murphy, a Democrat representing Connecticut, has been hospitalized after suffering a stroke. His office announced the development on Sunday.
Murphy, 53, experienced numbness in his arm while attending his son's hockey game on Saturday and was promptly taken to a local hospital. He has since been transferred to Johns Hopkins in Maryland. According to his chief of staff, Allison Hewitt, Murphy is "awake and alert," and doctors anticipate a full recovery.
Prior to this incident, Murphy had been actively campaigning for midterm candidates across the country and was scheduled to appear in New Hampshire on Sunday. He has been a prominent voice on various national security and foreign policy issues during his tenure in the Senate. He was also noted as a potential contender for the 2028 presidential election.
