ScotRail has issued an apology after the launch of its new booking app was marred by technical problems, leaving hundreds of passengers unable to purchase train tickets. The operator transitioned from its previous ticketing system, managed by Trainline, to a new platform on Thursday morning.

Social media channels for ScotRail were inundated with complaints detailing a range of issues. Passengers reported being forced to reset account passwords, and some found that their intended journeys did not appear in booking searches. In response to the widespread disruptions, ScotRail stated that its teams were actively working to resolve the problems. The company advised passengers to continue using the older version of the app until midday on Thursday while the issues were being addressed.
