Astronomers at Ukraine’s Main Astronomical Observatory have reported observing more than 20 unidentified objects moving near and across the moon during several observation periods in 2025. The findings, detailed in a study that has not yet undergone peer review, suggest the possibility of a technologically advanced nonhuman civilization operating from a hidden base on the moon.
The researchers identified two categories of objects: stationary 'atmospheric' UFOs and 'continental' UFOs that appeared to move across the lunar surface. Some of these disc-shaped objects were estimated to measure between 15 and 25 miles across, with some appearing to move at speeds of up to 4.1 miles per second.
The objects displayed unusual changes in brightness and rotation, which the team interpreted as potential indicators of structured, technological behavior. They noted that two objects, believed to be hundreds of miles apart, appeared to flash in unison, a statistically significant observation that the researchers suggested could indicate communication or coordinated control.
Additional observations on August 16, 2025, revealed several enormous ring-shaped objects in the daytime sky, which appeared to absorb nearly all radiation. These objects were estimated to measure roughly 22 miles across and were observed rotating at speeds of 6.8 miles per second. Based on their size and rotation, the researchers calculated that these rings could generate centrifugal forces more than twice Earth's gravity, raising the possibility of artificial gravity generation.
Scientists recorded the main group of objects using a high-speed camera attached to a telescope in Vinarivka, Ukraine. The camera captured 20 images per second, enabling the tracking of faint objects that appeared as small as two-by-two pixel specks. The researchers emphasized that the objects did not appear to be behaving randomly.
The study's authors posited that these objects could potentially reach Earth within 20 minutes and appear in the atmosphere as Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAPs). The team stated in their study, 'UFOs are observed on Earth and in near-Earth space. We believe that the moon serves as a base for UFOs.'
However, the study acknowledges that its conclusions rest on the assumption that the faint shapes were genuine objects near the moon and not atmospheric distortions, camera artifacts, or image processing errors. There is currently no independent scientific evidence to confirm the existence of aliens or artificial structures on the moon. Both NASA and the U.S. government maintain that while some sightings remain unexplained, none have been definitively linked to extraterrestrial technology.
The largest 'continental' object observed was a disc measuring approximately 25 miles across, comparable to the length of Manhattan. Its brightness fluctuated with repeating frequencies, which were isolated from interference using specialized filtering software. Some of the disc-shaped objects were estimated to measure between 15 and 25 miles across.
