Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer marked Democrats' midterm triumph by revisiting a widely mocked photograph of himself.
Schumer posted an image on social media depicting himself smiling beside a smoking propane grill. The grates of the grill held burgers and hot dogs, each superimposed with the faces of Republican politicians who lost their races, as well as then-President Trump and Vice President JD Vance. The meme version of Vance's face was prominently featured.
"54 seats and counting. And I learned how to grill…these burgers and dogs are finally cooked," Schumer wrote in his post, referencing the election results. The phrase "cooked" was a direct callback to the meme.
The image harks back to Father's Day 2024, when Schumer first shared a photo of himself at a grill with raw patties. That image drew significant online criticism and was eventually deleted.
