Green Party leader Zack Polanski has repeatedly amplified social media accounts accused of spreading antisemitic messages, according to an investigation by the Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA).
An investigation by the CAA found that while Polanski did not directly share the objectionable content, he has amplified accounts that peddle hate speech against Jews and Israel to his 206,000 followers. The posts from these accounts include accusations that 'Israel's Epstein class billionaire backers spend their fortunes on raping, murdering and eating babies,' that Zionists are 'not human, they are lower than vermin,' and that the sexual violence perpetrated by Hamas on October 7, 2023, was a 'massive rape hoax.'
Polanski was found to have reposted content from at least six accounts that have come under scrutiny. The Daily Mail reported that evidence shows Polanski reposted content from these accounts as recently as last month. Some of these accounts shared antisemitic conspiracy theories asserting Jewish control over global affairs.
Examples cited include posts stating, 'But sure, it's an 'antisemitic trope' to suggest Rothschilds and Israel control the world. What a f*cking scam,' and 'Zionism's capture of the western political and media narrative is so successful that you have to pretend it hasn't happened, or you'll be called anti-semitic.' Another post directly targeted Jews, stating, 'What did Jews get? The state of Israel was created for you, yet you people are still complain[ing] because nothing is ever enough for you lot.'
Furthermore, some accounts dehumanized Zionists, labeling them as 'the ugliest people on the planet,' while another claimed 'Israeli citizens are parasites STOP APOLOGISING.' The investigation also uncovered denial of attacks against Jews. One account described the events of October 7 as a 'lie,' asserting that Hamas 'had mainly targeted the Israeli military' and that 'the kids at the festival got caught in the crossfire and many victims were killed by the Israelis themselves.'
Other posts celebrated violence against Israel, with one stating that if Tel Aviv had been flattened, 'I would demand a national public holiday of celebration.' One account appeared to express support for Hezbollah, a proscribed terrorist group in the UK, by writing, 'Love it when Iran and Hezb coordinate their missile attacks on genocidal Israel.' Another shared a post stating 'long live the Resistance!', an apparent reference to Hamas.
Jews were also compared to Nazis in one post, with the author writing: 'They are addicted to killing. Zionism is a death cult, I mean it literally. The ideology only derives meaning from violence against the untermenschen.'
This incident follows a previous backlash against Polanski in July for posting an image that seemingly depicted Nigel Farage's execution. At the time, Polanski refused to apologize, calling it an 'inadvertent mistake' but pledging to 'be better on my social media.'
A spokesperson for the Campaign Against Antisemitism stated that Polanski, by repeatedly amplifying these accounts, is 'in hock to extremists.' The CAA has formally referred the Green Party to the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) over the matter.
