Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley is dealing with a hamstring injury that is being considered week-to-week, though it is not expected to be a long-term issue, according to NFL Network. Barkley sustained the injury during the Eagles' 24-20 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday and did not return to the game.
Head coach Nick Sirianni did not confirm Barkley's availability for the upcoming game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, stating only that Barkley would "do everything he can do to get himself back." Barkley had accumulated 174 yards on 34 carries through the first three games of the season. He managed only two carries for eight yards in Sunday's contest.
Adding to the Eagles' backfield concerns, backup running back Tank Bigsby is reportedly headed to injured reserve. Bigsby suffered an injury late in the Rams game that requires core muscle surgery. NFL Network reports that the procedure will take place at the Vincera Institute in Philadelphia, with the aim of a recovery within six weeks or less.
With Barkley and Bigsby sidelined, Will Shipley is currently the only healthy running back on the Eagles' active roster. The team also has Dameon Pierce, Carson Steele, and Jaydon Blue on its practice squad.
The Eagles are also experiencing issues along the offensive line. Left guard Cam Jurgens entered concussion protocol on Monday morning after self-reporting symptoms, according to NFL Network. Jurgens had recently transitioned to left guard from center to fill in for Landon Dickerson, who is currently on injured reserve with a knee injury.
