Ryan Lochte's fiancée, Molly Gillihan, has denied accusations made by his ex-wife, Kayla Rae Reid, that she was a "homewrecker." Gillihan stated that she did not begin dating the Olympic swimmer until after Reid had filed for divorce.
According to Gillihan, who is a kindergarten teacher, she met Lochte after his split from Reid. She told TMZ that she did not break up the marriage and that Lochte was not living in the home when they met. She characterized their meeting as a classic scenario where their divorce lawyers were previously connected. Gillihan said she went out with Lochte for drinks, not planning to develop a relationship, but ended up liking him.
Reid had previously told People magazine that Gillihan had been messaging and dating Lochte behind her back. Lochte has not publicly commented on the dispute.
Gillihan and Lochte became engaged prior to the finalization of his divorce from Reid. The couple has since relocated from Gainesville to Missouri, where Lochte is now coaching college swimmers. Gillihan is set to become Mrs. Lochte if plans proceed as expected.
