An aerial attack on the northeastern Ukrainian city of Sumy on Saturday killed five people, including a 13-year-old girl, and injured at least 30 others, according to local officials. The strikes involved glide bombs, which are unguided munitions that can be launched from a distance.
CCTV footage from a coffee shop in Sumy captured the moment explosions were heard nearby. Surveillance cameras recorded people ducking for cover before rushing inside the establishment. The attack hit the city center, causing damage to buildings and streets.
Artem Kobzar, the mayor of Sumy, announced the casualties on the Telegram messaging app. Emergency services responded to the scene following the explosions. The full extent of the damage is still being assessed.
