Trish Patterson, a 41-year-old from Hythe, has become the fastest woman to complete the Three Peaks Challenge on foot, setting a new record of six days, five hours, and 43 minutes. The challenge involves ascending and descending the three highest peaks in the UK: Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon.

Patterson described the experience as intensely demanding, particularly the sleep deprivation, which she managed by limiting her rest to about 90 minutes per night. To cope with the repetitive nature of the long-distance trekking, she stated that she had to "turn her brain off."

She emphasized the crucial role of a supportive team of friends and family throughout the trek. Their presence and the encounters with people along the route, who sometimes offered encouragement or small gestures like an ice lolly, provided significant motivation. Patterson noted that these connections were a "huge boost" and that she "really enjoyed" making them.

Having achieved this record, Patterson plans to take a break before returning to less strenuous running activities, including local park runs.

Patterson, a member of the Hadley Runners Club, hoped her accomplishment would underscore the significance of community spirit and human connection.
