Jamar Goff, the 23-year-old foster son of "Pioneer Woman" star Ree Drummond, has been sentenced to a suspended jail term and probation after facing charges of second-degree assault and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. The sentencing occurred Tuesday, November 3, according to Alabama court documents.
Goff received a 48-month suspended sentence for the assault charge and a 24-month suspended sentence for the drug possession charge. While he will not serve jail time, Goff is subject to 12 months of supervised probation, which includes a mandatory substance-abuse evaluation and random drug testing.
He was arrested on September 15 at the Jefferson County Jail in Birmingham, Alabama. According to reports, police responded to a call about a suspicious person at the University of Alabama at Birmingham campus. An officer found Goff shirtless and asleep near a fountain. During the encounter, Goff allegedly told the officer he was waiting to buy methamphetamine. After discovering an active arrest warrant for Goff, the officer attempted to take him into custody. Goff fled the scene and, upon being confronted again, allegedly struck the officer. A search of his backpack revealed drug paraphernalia and 1.8 grams of methamphetamine.
At the time of his arrest, officials stated Goff was homeless. The judge also issued an order prohibiting Goff from entering the University of Alabama at Birmingham campus. Court documents suggest that officials would not object to Goff serving his probation in Oklahoma.
This is not Goff's first legal encounter. In May 2025, a woman who identified herself as Goff's former girlfriend obtained a protective order against him. She alleged that Goff had grabbed her by the neck, thrown her dog against a wall, and punched a hole in the wall. Goff was also accused of biting a detention officer's hand last year.
Drummond and her husband, Ladd, became Goff's foster parents in 2018. Ree Drummond has previously spoken about Goff on her blog, referring to him as "an inextricable part of our wacky family."
