The Pentagon has released its fourth installment of unidentified aerial phenomenon (UAP), commonly known as UFO, files, following a declassification order from President Trump. The newly released documents include video footage of a peculiar six-pointed object observed off the coast of East Asia, adding to the diverse array of unexplained sightings documented since May.
While the latest files do not contain evidence of extraterrestrial life, they contribute to a growing collection of phenomena that range from documented moving orbs to a less substantiated report of a large, potato-shaped object over Colorado. The Trump administration has characterized UAPs as a potential national security concern requiring further investigation, though official statements have not provided evidence to support claims of government cover-ups regarding alien landings or extraterrestrial bodies.
Officials tasked with reviewing these files aim to assess their credibility and identify potential conventional explanations, such as weather balloons, atmospheric conditions, or advanced foreign technology. However, these determinations are frequently not included within the declassified reports themselves.
The six-pointed, star-shaped anomaly, captured over the Yellow Sea between China and the Korean Peninsula last year, is among the more striking elements in the recent release. An 18-second video within the file initially appears to show a crack on a camera screen but, upon closer inspection, reveals a tracked object. A summary accompanying the video states, "The sensor pans to track an area of contrast resembling a six-pointed star, keeping it generally centered within the center of the screen."
Another report details a sighting over the Atlantic Ocean in 2020 of an object described as jellyfish-shaped, possibly a balloon. A U.S. military operator reported observing a darker, maroonish object approximately 12 to 15 feet in height. The report notes the phenomenon appeared to be "travel[ing] with the wind" and did not "maneuver or change direction," resembling a "large, somewhat deformed balloon."
President Trump, who mandated the systematic release of UAP files earlier this year, has expressed skepticism about alien existence but emphasized the importance of transparency. This initiative follows remarks by former President Barack Obama, who stated during an interview that while aliens might be real, he had not personally encountered them.
Some of the released files have offered potential avenues for further investigation into specific cases. For instance, U.S. officials have identified a location in the Northeast where orbs have been observed frequently. These sightings were initially documented by a resident near a secluded pond and later verified in late 2024 by a team of FBI agents. The precise location and any conclusive findings from these investigations remain classified.
