Jurors at Cambridge Crown Court were shown CCTV footage depicting the moment a passenger used a frying pan to fend off a man wielding a knife during an attack on a train. The incident occurred on a Doncaster-to-London train that made an emergency stop in Huntingdon on November 1 last year.
Anthony Williams, 33, is accused of 10 counts of attempted murder related to the train attack. He also faces charges of attempting to kill three people in Peterborough the day before the train incident, and an attack on a boy at a London railway station. Williams, who resides in Peterborough, has pleaded not guilty to 14 counts of attempted murder.
The court heard that CCTV footage captured passengers barricading themselves inside the train carriages with bicycles during the incident. During the opening of the case, it was stated that there is no dispute that Williams carried out the attacks. The trial is focused on determining his intent to kill.
The trial continues.
