Pamela Springsteen, Sister of Bruce Springsteen, Spotted in Rare Los Angeles Outing
The former '80s horror actress, known for her role in the 'Sleepaway Camp' sequels, maintains a private life as a photographer.
Pamela Springsteen, the younger sister of rock legend Bruce Springsteen and a former actress known for her roles in cult 1980s horror films, was recently seen on a rare public outing in Los Angeles. The 64-year-old, who stepped away from acting in the early 1990s to pursue a career as a photographer, was pictured sporting a casual ensemble.
Springsteen is best recognized for her leading roles in the 1988 horror film Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers and its 1989 sequel, Sleepaway Camp III: Teenage Wasteland. These films have gained a cult following and were recently referenced in the horror-comedy film Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma.
Her acting career began with a small role as a cheerleader in the 1982 classic teen comedy Fast Times at Ridgemont High. During the filming of this movie, she briefly dated and became engaged to actor Sean Penn. Penn later adapted lyrics from Bruce Springsteen's song "Highway Patrolman" into his 1991 directorial debut, The Indian Runner.
Springsteen appeared in other films throughout the 1980s, including Reckless (1984), Modern Girls (1986), and Scenes from the Goldmine (1987). Her breakout supporting role came in Dixie Lanes in 1988, the same year she took on her first leading role in Sleepaway Camp II. She also made guest appearances on television shows such as Cagney & Lacey, The Facts of Life, and Family Ties.
After her last film appearance in 1990's The Gumshoe Kid, Springsteen shifted her focus to still photography. She has since worked extensively within the film and music industries, including multiple collaborations with her brother Bruce, for whom she photographed his 1992 album Lucky Town and several singles. She also served as the cinematographer for the music video of his song "The Ghost of Tom Joad."
Pamela Springsteen is the younger sister of Bruce Springsteen and is 13 years his junior. The family relocated to California when she was seven, while Bruce and their sister Virginia remained in New Jersey.
Pamela Springsteen married Bobby Roth in 2002, and they have one child.
