An unprovoked attack left an NYPD officer hospitalized after he was struck in the head with a glass bottle while attempting to break up a fight in Queens early Sunday morning. The incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. at the Ravenswood Houses, a public housing development located on 34th Avenue near 14th Street.
The 29-year-old officer responded to a reported melee and, as he moved to disperse the crowd, a projectile was thrown, striking him in the head. The impact caused a cut, and the officer was subsequently transported to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where he was reported in stable condition.
The attacker, described as a bearded individual wearing a blue jacket with white sleeve patterns, fled the scene on foot. The NYPD has released images of the suspect and is seeking the public's assistance in identifying him. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or submit tips via the department's website or X account.
