NYPD Inspector Jeremy Scheublin, 45, surrendered to face charges of first-degree attempted rape and first-degree sexual abuse, authorities said Friday. Scheublin turned himself in at the 46th Precinct in the Bronx, the same station he previously commanded.

Prosecutors requested bail be set at $150,000 cash, but a judge ultimately set it at $25,000. The accusations against Scheublin were detailed in a lawsuit filed in March by one of his subordinate officers. The lawsuit alleges that Scheublin sexually assaulted the officer in his office. According to the complaint, Scheublin told the Black officer, "I don’t know whether to kiss or choke you," before lifting her onto a couch and kissing her. The suit further states that Scheublin, who is white, told the officer, "I want to make biracial babies with you." The encounter reportedly ended when the woman kicked Scheublin in the groin.

Scheublin was suspended from his duties approximately four months after the lawsuit was filed.
