A 14-year-old boy is in critical condition after falling from the top of a moving subway train onto the tracks below in Brooklyn on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred around 3:40 p.m. as the northbound J/M train pulled into the Hewes Street station in Williamsburg.

Police reported that the teenager was riding on the roof of the train car when he lost his balance and fell onto the middle track. Emergency medical services responded to the scene and transported the boy to Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan, where he is listed in critical condition.

This incident follows a series of subway surfing tragedies in New York City. In May, another 14-year-old boy died while subway surfing on the same J/M line near the Williamsburg Bridge. In October of the previous year, two girls, 12-year-old Zemfira Mukhtarov and 13-year-old Ebba Morina, also died while riding on top of a Brooklyn-bound J train.

Authorities have not reported any arrests in connection with the latest incident, and an investigation is ongoing. The New York Post reported the details of the incident and provided related background on previous subway surfing fatalities.
