North West, the 13-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, is featured on the cover of Dazed magazine, showcasing her distinctive style including blue hair and piercings. In an accompanying interview, West stated she has little interest in typical teenage pursuits like "boys, vaping and doing bad stuff," preferring blue hair and body modifications.
West is promoting her debut EP, "N0rth4evr," which she released at age 12. The EP is described as a mix of rage rap, rock, emo, and hyperpop. The magazine notes that she is "ready to be seen on her own terms" and has adopted a "full rock star" persona. She made a surprise appearance on stage with artist Molly Santana in May, an event that led to her signing autographs at elementary school.
Discussing her music and collaborations, West expressed a desire for positive connections. "It’s cool to show that females can connect through their music – because it’s always beef and stuff, and it’s never like that [with me]. I never wanna have beef with any girl, you know?" she said, referring to her collaboration with Santana. "Molly was the perfect person to do this with me because I’m her biggest fan for real."
West also spoke about her work ethic and creative drive. "I don’t like to rest a lot. I like to get stuff done. So maybe just going to rehearsal, and then going to the studio; that’s a perfect day. Or having a big show would be the most ideal day," she explained. She noted that her first solo music festival performance at Summer Smash in June felt overdue, stating, "I wish I'd done it earlier. I've been ready."
Addressing critics who suggest she is too young to start a career, West countered, "Nah, this is my hobby, this is what I like to do, this is what I wanna do with my life." Her musical influences include Bktherula, Baby Osama, and Babyxsosa, though she counts Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night" as a favorite karaoke song.
In terms of fashion, West indicated a willingness to experiment. "I’d wear anything. A few weeks ago, I’d be like, ‘Oh hell no!’ But now, after today, I’d wear anything for real," she said. She also expressed a desire for more piercings, including a bridge piercing, but noted she is "not allowed" yet. West shared that her current piercings "make her feel her full self." A Michael Jackson leather jacket gifted by her mother is a prized possession.
Despite her family's wealth, West revealed aspirations for a conventional job. "I still wanna work. I wanna work at, like, Starbucks next year. I think I can next year ’cause I’m gonna be 14, so… I think I can. I want to have a regular job, I guess," she stated.
The interview is featured in the autumn 2026 issue of Dazed, available internationally from September 10.
