A Brady, Nebraska, man narrowly avoided being run over after an out-of-control vehicle struck his truck while he was washing a windshield at a gas station, Lincoln County deputies said.

The incident occurred on the evening of Friday, Sept. 12, 2025, and was captured on surveillance video released by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office. Deputies said the driver was traveling "at least 65 miles per hour in the 40 mile per hour zone" when the vehicle — reported to be a red Nissan — struck the man, identified by authorities as Brady Johnson. The driver was taken to a local hospital by firefighters and "will be cited for reckless driving," the sheriff's office said.

Johnson was hit in the lower leg but suffered only a minor injury, the sheriff's office said. Footage shows Johnson move away from the approaching vehicle and later approach the crashed car to assist the driver. "He was not seriously injured and complained of pain later in the night when the adrenaline wore off," the sheriff's office said in a Facebook post.

Deputies said the driver will face additional charges related to motor-vehicle violations, including no operator's license, no proof of insurance and expired registration. Authorities said Johnson's truck and a nearby streetlight pole were damaged in the collision.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office released the video and details on its Facebook page as part of its initial public statement. Local law enforcement agencies typically issue citations for traffic offenses at the scene and forward cases involving multiple charges to county prosecutors for review, officials said.

No additional information about the driver's condition was released by deputies, and the sheriff's office did not specify whether criminal charges beyond traffic-related citations would be filed. The investigation remained ongoing as deputies continued to document the crash and its causes.

The small community of Brady, the seat of Lincoln County, relies on county and municipal agencies to respond to traffic crashes and other emergencies. Incidents in which high speed is alleged on local roads often prompt reviews by sheriff's offices to determine appropriate enforcement and any further legal action under Nebraska statutes.

Authorities urged anyone with additional footage or information about the crash to contact the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office to assist investigators.
