A vast, rectangular formation detected on the ocean floor near Papua New Guinea has become the subject of speculation, with a self-described UFO researcher suggesting it may be evidence of an alien base.
Scott C Waring identified the anomaly, which he estimates to be approximately 10 miles long and four miles wide. Waring stated that he found the structure while examining seafloor maps generated by the Seabed 2030 project. He described it as a "megalith structure" and suggested it could extend between 10 and 15 miles below the seabed.
Waring posited that the formation's considerable size, unusual shape, and remote location differentiate it from natural geological occurrences. He wrote that the "alien base looks clean and taken care of," and its exposed surface suggests it is still occupied, claiming that "aliens are living there right now."
However, there is no independent evidence to corroborate the claim that the structure is artificial, occupied, or anything other than a natural formation or a mapping anomaly. Waring shared his findings on his YouTube channel, UFO Sightings Daily, estimating the structure could comprise 20 buildings, each comparable in size to the Empire State Building.
"This is just huge. It's big enough for an entire city to live inside of this. It is massive," Waring said. Many of his followers expressed interest in the discovery, with comments ranging from "cool find" to "aliens."
Confirmation of extraterrestrial activity would require detailed sonar surveys, underwater photography, and physical evidence. The U.S. government has consistently stated that there is no evidence of alien visitation to Earth.
Waring also recently reported discovering potential evidence of a lost civilization off the coast of Cuba, citing faint, parallel, and intersecting lines on the seafloor. He estimated this site to be seven to eight miles in one direction and approximately three miles in the other.
"This new map is extraordinary," Waring said in a YouTube video. "In this one location, there is an ancient sunken city. There are a lot of geometric shapes, which indicate there is something down here that was intelligently made."
No archaeologists or marine scientists have yet examined this site to confirm that the patterns represent human-made structures. Waring argued that the scale and regularity of the shapes made natural formation unlikely. He pondered whether the builders were human or extraterrestrial, ultimately leaning towards a lost human civilization due to the "primitive and less futuristic" geometric design, likening it to a legendary civilization like Atlantis.
Waring speculated that a significant earthquake might have caused the island and its structures to collapse into the ocean. "An earthquake just could have rattled it so much that coral could have just collapsed on itself and the whole island could have sunk," he explained.
