A set decorator who worked on the Amazon Prime series "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" was found stabbed to death in her Queens, New York, home early Tuesday morning. Police are investigating the incident as a potential murder-suicide.
Mary Golding, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene after officers responded to a 911 call reporting an assault at the residence shortly after midnight. According to IMDb, Golding also contributed to the set design for "Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer," "Goosebumps," "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," and "Hawkeye."
Investigators later discovered the body of Golding's husband, 33-year-old Joseph Azzaretto, hanging from a tree in Astoria Park. Sources told The New York Post that Azzaretto may have confessed to the killing in phone calls made to a friend of his wife and a family member. The friend, whose name was not released, reportedly found Golding dead in the home and discovered the couple's infant child nearby.
This incident marks another tragedy for a family with a history of violence. Prior to this event, Azzaretto's brother, Nicholas Azzaretto, was accused of fatally shooting their father, Frank Azzaretto, in February 2020 during a domestic dispute in Monroe County, Pennsylvania. Nicholas Azzaretto pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in November 2021 and received a sentence of 10 years probation and two years of electronic monitoring.
