Rep. Jared Moskowitz, a Democrat from Florida, has taken to social media to celebrate his victory in the recent primary election, extending mocking “condolences” to streamer Hasan Piker. Piker, a prominent critic of Israel, had endorsed Oliver Larkin, the Democratic Socialist of America-backed challenger who lost to Moskowitz in Florida’s 25th Congressional District.

Moskowitz declared his win on X, writing, “My condolences to @hasanthehun.” Piker responded, criticizing Moskowitz's focus on him, stating, “its pretty wild that his first thought was a prominent critic of israel, before even thanking his constituents lmao. really worried about his genocidal emotional support apartheid state.”

Moskowitz later thanked his constituents and family for their support. He also commented on the situation to Politico Playbook, saying, “Democrats shouldn’t play hide the Piker now. For all those people who thought it was a great idea to campaign with him, as Jay-Z once said, ‘Bring ’em out, bring ’em out.’ They shouldn’t be hiding him now.”

Piker, in turn, expressed concern for Moskowitz's mental well-being. The streamer has become a focal point in internal Democratic Party debates, with some advocating for the party to embrace figures like Piker to reach a broader voter base, while others, like Democratic strategist James Carville, have distanced themselves.

Commentator Kaivan Schroff noted an asymmetry in how primary wins are perceived. Schroff suggested that a DSA candidate's victory is often framed as a significant ideological shift within the party, while a moderate Democrat's win receives less attention. He posited that Moskowitz's public engagement with Piker forces a broader conversation about the political dynamics at play.

Earlier this year, Piker's involvement in other races drew attention. He campaigned with progressive candidates such as Francesca Hong in Wisconsin and Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan. Following El-Sayed’s primary win, Piker rejected calls for the candidate to mend fences with skeptical Democrats, making a contentious remark about Islamophobia.

Moskowitz’s victory in Florida's 25th District, a newly redrawn swing seat, is considered significant in the context of the upcoming midterm elections, where control of the House of Representatives hangs on a slim Republican majority. Moskowitz's campaign did not immediately respond to requests for further comment. Piker's initial campaign event appearance was in Dearborn, Michigan, on July 31, 2026.
