Winco Fireworks International has initiated a recall of over 100,000 fireworks devices sold across the United States due to significant safety concerns, including risks of unintended explosions and burn injuries. The recall was announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on July 2.
Recalled Products
The recall encompasses approximately 87,120 Unity 7 Shot 200 Gram Aerial Cake fireworks and about 13,500 Roman Candles 8 Shot 3-Pack fireworks, both imported by the Grandview, Missouri-based company. The Unity fireworks, identified by model MEF6096, were sold in packaging featuring American flag graphics and the label "Unity." These were available nationwide at Pyro City stores and other independent fireworks retailers between January and May 2026, priced between $6 and $8.
The Roman Candles, model RCLR-W8012, were sold in "Hometown" packaging with American flags. They were distributed through Pyro City and other retailers from April to June 2026, with a price range of $17 to $19.
Safety Concerns
According to the CPSC, the Unity 7 Shot 200 Gram Aerial Cake fireworks can tip over during use, leading to potential serious injuries from explosions and burns. The Roman Candles 8 Shot 3-Pack fireworks can malfunction, causing shots to fire out the side of the tube, posing similar explosion and burn hazards.
No injuries or incidents have been reported in connection with either recalled product. Both product lines were manufactured in China and imported by Winco.
Consumer Action
Consumers are strongly advised to stop using the recalled fireworks immediately. The CPSC recommends returning the products to the place of purchase for a full refund. Refunds will be issued in cash or processed to the consumer’s original form of payment. Federal law prohibits the sale of products that are subject to a Commission-ordered or voluntarily conducted recall in cooperation with the CPSC. Winco has been contacted for comment regarding the recall.
