Former First Lady Michelle Obama has revealed her fondness for the reality dating series "Love Island," a show she watches with her daughters, Malia and Sasha. Obama, 62, shared that her daughters, now in their twenties, initially introduced her to the program.

"That's mother-daughter time, you know. And they're behind, they got me hooked," Obama said during a conversation with actress Quinta Brunson on her podcast, Higher Ground. She expressed slight frustration that her daughters were not caught up on the latest season, urging them to "get some more free time."

"Love Island USA," a spin-off of the popular UK version, focuses on pairing singles in a villa in pursuit of love, often accompanied by interpersonal drama. The most recent season of the show has reportedly faced several controversies.

Since leaving the White House, Malia Obama, 27, has pursued a career in Hollywood, with her directorial debut, "The Heart," released in 2024. Sasha Obama, 25, graduated from the University of Southern California in 2023. Michelle Obama shares her daughters with her husband, former President Barack Obama.

In a previous interview on the podcast "Call Her Daddy" in January, Obama discussed a question she avoids asking her daughters: "Are you dating anyone?" She explained that while the urge to inquire is present, she believes such questions can send a "subliminal message" and create undue "pressure" on young women. Obama cautioned parents to be mindful of how their questions might inadvertently add to the existing social pressures faced by young people, urging them to separate parental insecurities from their children's experiences.
