Ahead of the annual New York City Pride Parade, some men are undergoing cosmetic procedures, spending significant amounts to enhance their appearance. Treatments range from laser hair removal and penis girth fillers to body contouring, with costs potentially reaching up to $25,000.
For individuals like Jason, 36, who underwent head-to-toe laser hair removal and penis girth filler procedures, the investment in his appearance for the parade was over $3,000. "Revenge body is definitely real after a breakup," he told The Post, emphasizing his desire to look his best for potential encounters. "If I run into someone, I want to make sure I’m prepared."
Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr. Douglas Steinbrech likens the Pride Parade to "the Super Bowl for the gay community," where appearance is paramount. He noted that patients seek procedures to look their best in minimal attire. "They have to look right. This is the one that counts – it’s the Sadie Hawkins dance on steroids," Steinbrech said.
Larry, 62, a former dancer and bartender, described Pride in NYC as "Oscars week" and invested in procedures for his abs, face, neck, and glutes. "My rear is not by mistake," he stated, referring to fat grafting and injections. "Now people say, ‘You have a nice ass, not a fake ass.’ That’s all the difference."
Another individual, who identified as a flight attendant, reportedly paid $15,000 for penis fillers specifically for the parade. He plans to wear a tight, white outfit and feels confident about the results, describing the enhancement as "definitely more bulky – it’s heavier and prettier."
Midtown plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer offers procedures such as penis fillers, PRP injections, and scrotoplasty, with some patients achieving significant size increases. He observes an increase in patients, both single and in couples, preparing for "speedo season" which begins with Pride. "They want to look their best in the minimal amount of clothing," Shafer stated.
Aesthetic nurse practitioner Chris Bustamante notes that men are increasingly opting for these procedures, comparing the trend to the past preference for luxury cars. "Before, middle-aged guys would just buy a Porsche. Now they’re getting their dicks done," Bustamante said. He performs up to five procedures daily, with some clients seeking up to a two-inch gain in circumference. He added that some men report increased attention, saying, "Guys will tell me they see people glance down, which has never happened before – and it gives them a nice ego."
