Mel Gibson was recently photographed dining with his 16-year-old daughter, Lucia, at a restaurant in the Los Angeles suburbs. Gibson, 70, welcomed Lucia with Russian musician Oksana Grigorieva, with whom he was involved from 2009 until their split in 2010.
Lucia has grown to be approximately her father's height, standing at 5'10", matching Gibson's reported stature. The pair were seen entering Mediterraneo, a restaurant in Westlake Village.
Gibson, a father of nine, has recently returned to the U.S. after directing the Italian shoot of "The Resurrection of the Christ," a two-part sequel to his 2004 film "The Passion of the Christ." The new films are slated for release over the next two years.
Gibson's relationship with Grigorieva was marked by a contentious legal battle over Lucia following their 2010 separation. Grigorieva accused Gibson of domestic violence, which led to him pleading no contest to a misdemeanor battery charge. This period also saw the leak of audio recordings where Gibson made racially charged remarks. The couple reached a joint custody agreement for Lucia in August 2011.
Prior to his relationship with Grigorieva, Gibson was married to Robyn Moore from 1980 until their divorce was finalized in 2011. They had seven children together. From 2014 until last year, Gibson was in a relationship with Rosalind Ross, with whom he has a nine-year-old son, Lars.
In a 2014 interview, Gibson spoke about fatherhood, remarking on the wonder of raising Lucia, who was then his youngest child. He emphasized the importance of listening to one's children.
