The 78th Emmy Awards ceremony, held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and hosted by Mariska Hargitay, celebrated a year of television achievements. Hargitay made history as the first woman to host the award show in 15 years.

"The Pitt" led the nominations with 25, while "Hacks" secured a record 24 nominations in its final season. Apple TV+'s "Widow’s Bay" followed with 19 nominations, and "Pluribus" garnered 18.

Matthew Rhys achieved a notable milestone by winning two lead acting awards in the same ceremony. He was recognized for outstanding lead actor in a limited or anthology series for Netflix's "The Beast in Me" and for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series for Apple TV+'s "Widow’s Bay."

Preceding the main ceremony, the Creative Arts Emmys saw wins for Shailene Woodley, Mariska Hargitay, Bad Bunny, and the late Rob Reiner. "Widow’s Bay" was a dominant force, securing eight awards, while "DTF St. Louis" took home six.
