Martha Stewart has shared her candid thoughts on Meghan Markle's foray into the lifestyle and culinary space, questioning the transition from acting and royalty to a "homemaking guru." Stewart, a seasoned figure in the domestic arts, shared her perspective in a recent interview with People magazine.

Stewart recounted having dinner with Markle in California shortly after the Duchess's return from a trip to the United Kingdom with Prince Harry and their children. While their interaction was brief, Stewart noted that Markle was discussing her new ventures.

"If you're an actress, it's hard to then transition to a princess and then from a princess into a homemaking guru on a television show," Stewart told People. "It doesn't sort of follow. So go from there."

Markle, who has adopted the title Duchess of Sussex, has been actively pursuing new career opportunities since she and Prince Harry stepped back from royal duties in 2020. In April 2025, she launched her lifestyle, cooking, and hosting brand, As Ever, coinciding with the premiere of her lifestyle series, "With Love, Meghan," on Netflix.

This is not the first time Stewart has commented on Markle's new career path. In July 2025, she told Yahoo Lifestyle that she hoped Markle "knows what she's talking about," emphasizing the importance of authenticity and knowledge in subject matter. Stewart added that while she doesn't "mind" successors in the field, she wishes them well.
