Fox News host Maria Bartiromo drew criticism and mockery for comments she made regarding former President Donald Trump's assertions about Iran's military strength and the ongoing conflict.
During a segment on Sunday, as the conflict continued following the collapse of a ceasefire, Bartiromo questioned Iran's military capabilities. "I don’t understand how it’s possible that Iran has the capabilities to fight this way and continue to try to lash out at Gulf countries and U.S. military bases, because the U.S. has obliterated Iran’s military and the president continues to reiterate that," she stated.
This statement referenced Trump's repeated claims that Iran's military had been "totally and utterly defeated" in the conflict he initiated in February. Critics, however, proposed a simpler explanation for Iran's continued military actions: that Trump's statements were not factual.
Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) responded to Bartiromo's remarks with sarcasm, tweeting, "Boy this is a tough one, since Trump is so truthful."
Other social media users also adopted a mocking tone, with one commenter stating, "She’s so close."
