Secretary of State Marco Rubio shared personal details about his musical preferences and his ideal day off during a recent appearance on The Katie Miller Podcast. In a conversation with his wife, Jeanette, Rubio revealed a fondness for hip-hop and electronic dance music (EDM), contrasting it with his wife’s preference for country music.

Rubio described country music as "very sad," noting that "most of the songs are about, like, somebody whose wife and dog left them." He found a way to appreciate his wife’s genre by enjoying EDM remixes of country songs, citing a particular liking for an EDM version of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire." His favorite rapper is Tupac Shakur.

During the podcast, Rubio also outlined his vision for a perfect day off, which would involve watching college and NFL football for approximately 15 hours with a nap in between. He acknowledged that such an extended viewing session is unlikely to happen given his demanding schedule.

Jeanette Rubio confirmed her husband's love for football, noting that she enjoys watching some games, particularly when their son, Anthony, plays for the Florida Gators. She also advocated for Rubio to listen to more country artists like Morgan Wallen.

A Career Beyond Politics?

When discussing potential future careers, Rubio, who has previously served as a DJ, floated the idea of working in the sports industry, potentially at the intersection of sports and culture. He mused about hosting a sports podcast that would not focus on politics or foreign policy. "Whatever pays the most," he added when asked about his motivation for a post-political career.
