Johnthony Walker, who was convicted in a 2016 school bus crash that resulted in the deaths of six children, has been arrested again in Tennessee. Online court records indicate Walker, 34, is facing seven new charges stemming from an alleged domestic violence incident.

Walker was booked into the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office jail on charges that include aggravated assault by strangulation, aggravated burglary, child abuse, interference with an emergency call, and three counts related to sex offender violations. These charges are unrelated to his previous convictions.

Prior Convictions

In 2016, Walker was operating a school bus for a Chattanooga school district when he was traveling at high speeds on an unauthorized route. Court records state he swerved, striking a mailbox and telephone pole, which caused the bus to flip and crash into a tree. Six elementary school students were killed, and dozens more were injured in the crash. Walker was convicted of negligent homicide in 2018 and sentenced to four years in prison.

Two years later, in 2020, Walker pleaded guilty to rape and received a sentence of six years and one month. This sentence was ordered to run consecutively to his sentence for the bus crash. He was also mandated to register as a sex offender.

Records indicate Walker had previously served four years for the deadly bus crash conviction.
