A Venezuelan national was arrested near the White House after authorities found him with multiple firearms in a stolen vehicle and he allegedly threatened to kill President Donald Trump, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and a criminal complaint.
Ronny Guanipa-Chrinos was taken into custody early Friday morning when a Secret Service officer on patrol noticed his blue Ford F-150 parked on Constitution Avenue. When the officer approached and inquired about his well-being and if he had weapons, Guanipa-Chrinos allegedly made a finger gun gesture, indicating he was armed. The vehicle had been reported stolen.
During the encounter, Guanipa-Chrinos reportedly told investigators, via Google Translate, that he possessed a firearm because someone had tried to kill him with it. He stated the weapon was in a brown bag within the vehicle. DHS further reported that Guanipa-Chrinos claimed he "heard voices in his head telling him to come to Washington, D.C. and kill President Trump."
Investigators discovered a MAC-10 machine pistol, a Glock 43x pistol, and an AR-15 rifle in the vehicle, along with dozens of rounds of ammunition.
Guanipa-Chrinos has been charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, receiving stolen property, carrying a pistol without a license, carrying a rifle without a license, and other firearms-related offenses. He appeared in D.C. Superior Court on Friday and is being held without bond. According to DHS, Guanipa-Chrinos is an undocumented immigrant who entered the U.S. through Texas in 2024.
