A man is accused of stabbing his partner approximately 70 times and then attacking her daughter when she attempted to intervene, a court has heard. Alan Dore, 48, faces charges of murder and attempted murder in connection with the incident that occurred on Tuesday, August 18, at a home in Shepherd's Bush, west London.
According to prosecutor Philip McGhee, the allegations involve a "murderous attack" with a knife in a domestic setting. Keeley Turner, the 32-year-old daughter of the victim, Samantha Turner, was reportedly upstairs when she heard her mother scream. Upon going downstairs, she attempted to stop the defendant, but was allegedly stabbed in the abdomen and then her back.
Keeley Turner subsequently called emergency services at 8:19 a.m., reporting that her mother had been stabbed and exclaiming, "Hurry up man, he's going to kill her." Emergency responders found Samantha Turner, 52, lying in a pool of blood on her kitchen floor. Despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:54 a.m.
A post-mortem examination revealed approximately 70 sharp force injuries to Ms. Turner's body, inflicted with severe force. Dore, who was in a relationship with Ms. Turner and lived nearby, was arrested in a bedroom at the property. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Dore appeared at the Old Bailey in London via video-link from Wandsworth Prison on Monday. He confirmed his identity and was remanded into custody. A plea hearing is scheduled for November 9, with a provisional trial date set for May 17 of the following year. The case is expected to last three weeks.
