An aide to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani reportedly engaged in a heated exchange with ABC executives, expressing anger over comments made by "The View" co-host Sara Haines. Haines had stated on air that she would "full-blown call" Democratic congressional candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier an antisemite.
According to Semafor, the Mamdani aide privately warned ABC executives that Haines' remarks could jeopardize future appearances on the show by Mamdani and other democratic socialist candidates. The incident occurred amid ABC's reported refusal of a request from Mamdani's team to feature Avila Chevalier and Queens Assemblywoman Claire Valdez on "The View."
Producers informed Mamdani's representatives that they were exercising caution in booking candidates due to an ongoing Federal Communications Commission inquiry into the program's adherence to equal-time rules. The New York Post has reached out to ABC and Mamdani for comment.
