An aide to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani reportedly lodged strong objections with ABC executives following comments made by "The View" co-host Sara Haines, who characterized a socialist congressional candidate as an antisemite. The aide privately conveyed displeasure to network executives after Haines stated on air that she would "full-blown call" Democratic congressional candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier "an antisemite," according to Semafor.

The unnamed aide is said to have warned that Haines' remarks could jeopardize future appearances on "The View" by Mamdani and other democratic socialist candidates. This confrontation occurred as ABC reportedly declined a request from Mamdani's team to feature two of the mayor's congressional allies, Avila Chevalier and Queens Assemblywoman Claire Valdez, on the program.

Producers at "The View" informed Mamdani's representatives that they were exercising caution in booking candidates due to an ongoing Federal Communications Commission inquiry into the program regarding equal-time provisions. The New York Post has reached out to ABC and Mamdani for comment.
