MAGA voters are beginning to consider potential Republican presidential candidates for 2028, with Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio frequently named as favorites in interviews with Fox News Digital. These sentiments emerged after Democrats secured majorities in the House and Senate following the midterm elections.
Voters interviewed expressed a desire for candidates who could emulate Donald Trump's style and policies. "I like JD Vance obviously. I like Marco Rubio. There's some other ones too that are maybe not so much mainstream that are coming up that I like too," one individual stated. Another voter commented on Rubio, "He's articulate, he’s well spoken. He's got good ideas. I just really like him," while also noting Vance as a strong contender.
Another expressed a wish for Trump to run again, while others considered Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. "I would like to see either JD And Marco, or JD And Governor DeSantis," said one rally attendee. "That's what I would feel comfortable with."
Beyond Vance, Rubio, and DeSantis, other Republicans mentioned in early 2028 discussions include Senators Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley. While no major Republican candidate has formally announced a 2028 presidential campaign, the conclusion of the midterms has intensified focus on the party's future leadership.
Some voters, while preferring Rubio's experience, still acknowledged both Vance and Rubio as strong potential successors. "I like JD Vance, and I like Marco Rubio. I think those are two very outstanding candidates that will continue to make America great again," one attendee said.
